16th-Jan-2012: Tata Motors was pretty successful in stealing the entire Auto Expo 2012 event with its new small car, Tata Pixel. The Tata Pixel Concept car is cute, chic and trendy. The doors of the cars were major highlights here. The scissor doors could slide up high, thereby allowing the passenger to enter or exit the car even in the tightest of space. The new Tata Pixel is powered by 1.2 litre of turbocharged diesel engine along with ample of high tech features, which comprise of optimized aerodynamics drag, stop-start technology, and low-rolling resistance tires etc. Tata Pixel is so far just a concept therefore, the price of the car hasn’t been determined yet.

Auto major Volkswagen plans to launch its compact and also luxurious SUV Volkswagen Tiguan in India. Volkswagen Tiguan is based on Audi A5 platform and much luxurious in its segment. Volkswagen Tiguan is the new entry into the ever growing small SUV segment for Volkswagen. Volkswagen Tiguan was first showcased at the 2007 Frankfurt Motor Show, and was debuted as a 2008 model for Europe. Volkswagen India plans to launch Volkswagen Tiguan in by the mid of this year and to compete with other SUVs of this segment like of Honda CR-V, Ford Endeavour & the most awaiting Hyundai Santa Fe. TheVolkswagen Tiguan price is not yet disclosed by the company but it is expected it will be priced around 20lacs.

Nissan India is mulling over a new small car in India which will be calledNissan Roox. The Roox is a tiny 4-seater cubical car with unrivalled space in its class. Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, the managing director of Nissan India, has hinted about the production of Nissan Roox but the launch is not expected in near future. Currently, Nissan India is doing a viability study to evaluate the most possible demand for a new car below the premium hatchback car, Nissan Micra. Since it will be targeted as a mass puller, Nissan Roox price in India would be kept competitive.

Chevrolet Sail hatchback has been unveiled during the Auto Expo, 2012. The compact Chevrolet Sail is not just interesting from outside, what goes under the hood is even more exciting.  The 1.2 L diesel from Chevrolet Beat is not all that we are going to see as speculated. GM India has ultimately decided to satisfy the crowd this time with a 1.3 L diesel engine addition that too, not long from now. Hold your breath to hear the good news. The Chevy Sail will be launched not later than April this year by the looks of it with both the fuel options. Speculations are rife that Chevrolet Sail will replace Aveo U-Va small car by Chevrolet in India as the latter has not garnered much sales.Guess the price contest would be interesting until GM India makes the big announcement on Chevrolet Sail price.
